How to choose the right injection molding supplier in China?

Finished product company develops a new product and prepares for mass production. At this time, how to choose a suitable mold factory is extremely important. Our founder Mr. Wang has been engaged in mold design and procurement for more than ten years and has been in contact no less than hundreds of mold factories. Here is a summary of the experience of these years sorted out to share with you.

1. What type of mold factory is better for cooperation?

At present, China has many foreign, Taiwanese, Hong Kong, and domestic private mold factories to choose from. The advantages and disadvantages of mold factories with various qualifications are as follows:

(A) Foreign-funded mold factory

Foreign-funded mold factories have standardized management, complete processes, strong service awareness, quality and service guarantees, but it also means that mold opening costs will be relatively high. For example, a set of sophisticated large-scale automobile models can cost hundreds of thousands dollars. If your company has strong financial strength and focuses on product quality, it is recommended that a large-scale foreign mold factory is the first choice!

(B) Taiwan-funded and Hong Kong-funded mold factories

Taiwan-funded and Hong Kong-funded mold factories benefited from factors such as the early start of industrial development in Taiwan, Hong Kong and other places. They accepted the influence of foreign investment decades earlier than mainland enterprises. Their standardized management and design concepts were closer to those of Japan, South Korea, Europe and the United States. Compared with foreign-funded mold factories, the quality and service are slightly inadequate. The price is moderate, not as high as foreign-funded mold factories. Therefore, some powerful finished products companies prefer to choose fully-equipped Taiwan-funded and Hong Kong-funded mold factories as a long-term mold partner.

(C) Domestic private mould factory

Most of the domestic private mold factories were founded by the first batch of people who entered the foreign-funded enterprises. They worked and contacted the mold industry after China's reform and opening up. They can be regarded as rising stars in the mold industry (such as our founder Mr. Wang). Some of these mold factories have developed rapidly. Through several years of development, they have reached a high level in terms of hardware equipment, management process, design philosophy, business philosophy, quality awareness, etc. The injection molding prices and plastic product prices of these companies have advantages over foreign, Taiwanese, and Hong Kong-funded companies. They are cost-effective and often attract the attention of many mold purchasers.

On the other hand, many private mold factories in China still choose to purchase second-hand processing equipment with low performance and accuracy and second-line B materials to make molds and products due to insufficient start-up funds. The rationality of mold design, production accuracy, mold life and reliability of products often fails to meet customer requirements. This type of company fights for prices, and sometimes the prices given are unbelievably low. In fact, this has also led to a difficult cycle of corporate development.

2. What scale of mold factory is better to cooperate with?

Large-scale, medium-scale or small-scale? Personally, the choice in this regard depends on the situation. Many people think that the larger the scale, the better. Because large scale means powerful and complete! But from another aspect, the larger the scale, the higher the management cost. And the price advantage will not be obvious.

Whether the mold factory treats you as an important customer, that is, whether it pays attention to you, is very important. In fact, looking for a supplier is just like looking for the right person. If your own company's financial strength is not strong , the purchase amount is not large, blindly choose large-scale mold factories to cooperate. Sometimes people don’t take you seriously when the money is spent.

In this case, most people will choose small and medium-sized mold factories. In fact, everyone in the industry is doing this. After all, the prices of molds and products are relatively easy to accept, and it is good to have an explanation to the superior. But soon you will find that the worrying thing is coming again. Can the mold be completed on time and with good quality? How is the mass production of the mold? What is the life of the mold?

At this time, we suggest you pay attention to a basic common sense, that is, you must choose a mold factory with complete supporting equipment, which is what we usually call "all-in-one" mold factory. 3. To choose a suitable mold factory, we must pay attention to the following points:

(a) Do not blindly believe in low purchase prices, as the saying goes: you get what you pay for, and behind the low prices are often hidden traps that we don't know or they are shoddy. Well, you must know that any mold factory has to pay rent, water and electricity, to support workers and make profits!

(b) Be sure to find a mold factory with well-equipped facilities.

(c) Finally, we suggest that you should consider the conditions and characteristics of your own factories when choosing a mold factory. Make an objective assessment of the needs, positioning of molds and products, then make a reasonable choice. You will get a satisfactory result!
